Kyanite and mullite are heavily utilized by companies that produce kiln linings and kiln furniture. Similar to the refractories industry, Virginia Kyanite™ and Virginia Mullite™ are used to reduce thermal cracking during the manufacturing process. Mullite enhances hot strength and thermal shock resistance, as well as acting as a thermal insulator.
