ELECTRICAL
PORCELAINS
Kyanite
and mullite are used in many electrical types of
porcelain because of their high thermal resistance and extremely
low electrical conductivity. Kyanite was first used in industrial
applications during WWI as the electrical insulator. Today Virginia
Kyanite™ is commonly used in many electronics – from
electrical insulators to spark plugs. Virginia Mullite™ is
even being tested as a possible alternative material in the manufacture
of electrical substrates.
